Reading and literacy in my family

Reading and literacy is something that I feel my family finds very important. My parents have always instilled the importance of education and doing good in school to my brother and I. I feel that good reading and writing skills are essential for being successful in school. Therefore in order to do well, we must take reading and literacy seriously. My family always turns to each other when writing something important for school or work. My brother and I go to each other for advice on papers for school. I also frequently have my mom proof read my papers. My dad even asked my opinion on something that he had to write for his job before. We all take education very seriously and therefore reading and literacy are important aspects of our lives.

  1. That's really awesome that you have family to turn to when you need help with school. I'm an only child and live with my dad who works all of the time. This can make it hard to get second opinions on things so I kinda have to do everything myself and it can be very hard at times!

  2. Yeah it sounds like your family is pretty much a mirror image of my family. My family takes reading and writing very serious and like I said in my blog they have to read and write on a daily basis. I dont know many jobs today that dont involve some form of reading and/or writing.

  3. it's really good to get opinions from more than one source. It really helps you develope a work of writing and helps other people understand your style as well. I think that more families should help eachother with papers or work assignments because parents could learn from the children as well.

  4. Education is very important in my family, too. We are always asking each other for help with papers and proofreading. It's nice to have many people to go to for academic advice- especially those you can trust like your family members! They care about your success just as much as you do, so they are more likely to put more thought into helping you with assignments.
