Troubles with my argument essay
I am currently in the process of writing an argumentative essay in the form of a letter regarding the credibility of Wikipedia articles. I am having some trouble with organizing my thoughts and ideas. I have a general idea of what I want to write about, however it is difficult to put it all together. Also, I'm having a hard time deciding what quotations to use and where to use them. The Wikipedia article that I am writing on is very reliable and accurate. However, a lot of the readings discuss how Wikipedia is controversial and not always trustworthy. I do not want to contradict myself by using certain quotes from these articles.

I had similar problems when I was writing my rough draft. Sometimes it helps me to make an outline of the paper first. That way I can see which points I want to make and how I'm going to support them. The quotes are hard for me too. I'll probably go back and either change the ones I used or move them somewhere else in the paper. Good think it's only a rough draft. (:
ReplyDeleteOutlines are a good idea to use when organizing thoughts. I always just try to start writing my paper from scratch, and never think to do an outline first. I also change what quotes I use a lot. I always feel that if I am using a quote that it has to be extremely important for me to directly quote something rather than just summarize or paraphrase it. After figuring everything out and sorting through my organization issues,I ended up being happy with what I wrote and doing pretty well on my paper.
